Refugee Week (16-22 June) is an opportunity to recognise the people who come to Australia through the Humanitarian Program, who enrich our society and strengthen our economy.
Through the Humanitarian Program, Australia has a long history of assisting refugees and people in humanitarian need. The Department’s Humanitarian Program supports international efforts to protect refugees and respond to global humanitarian need.
For Refugee Week this year the Department is reflecting on the personal qualities of courage, determination and resilience—which all refugees and humanitarian entrants embody.
Many humanitarian entrants have built successful careers in Australia in business, education, sport and in the community sector.
Visit the success stories page of our website to read some of these individual stories of courage, resilience and determination.
